"A truly good education is rooted in good family upbringing and parental love and guidance."

To recap what was shared in the previous article Has ‘Education’ Lost its Passion?, it seems clear that there is always a personal drive for excellence where passion is involved. We can see this truth in our educational goals, pursuit of knowledge and our striving for a better life and society. How far are we as a nation willing to go to build a society that is passionate about learning?
Each of us, have people who are near and dear to us, individuals who are willing to sacrifice for our happiness, and we call them ‘family’. This group, comprising of our parents, siblings, guardians or extended family and sometimes even friends are the people who are first entrusted with developing our passion for learning.
Here are a few reasons why ‘family’ plays a crucial role in developing our passion for learning.
The people we first learn to trust - Family is where it begins for most of us and these are some of the first individuals we learn to trust. Instances of children developing a passion fo r learning just from the example of role models in the family unit are numerous. A good solid example of a passion for learning added with support, with care and the trust of a child can go a long way in creating lifelong learners.
The people who first arouse our curiosity - Yes, it is true that to a certain extent some of our passion for learning and curiosity is aroused by ‘family’. From the simplest act of playing hide and seek with a baby to understanding the mysteries of space and time, a family’s role is always a major one. A simple example is when a child is unsure and shrugs of a question by saying ‘I don’t know’, rather than leaving it at that, the responsibility of ‘family’ should be to develop an attitude of curiosity which sounds a lot like ‘I don’t know yet, let me find out how it’s done’.
The people who first shape our ‘Idea’ of learning - Their constant presence throughout most of our school and college life has a very big impact on our view of education or how much we develop a passion for learning. Families impact us in positive ways by bringing out the best in us through constant support, care and the time they invest in us. Sometimes it unlocks the joys of learning and helps us shine in our education and at other times like a compass it points us to something we are really good at that we should spend more time developing. Education is mainly an exploration to understand things around us or things related to us. To a child, conceptually, family plays an important foundational role in developing the proper ‘idea’ of learning for the next generation.
Basically, it is impossible for people to not indulge in something they are passionate about. So our duty as family is relatively quite simple. If we can lead as examples by displaying that education is a fun thing to do, then we have achieved a great feat.
